FAQ

  • Q Is simple topcoat repair effective for tiny bubbles on the floor surface?

A Barely effective. Bubbles are mostly caused by substrate moisture or incorrect material mixing ratio. Simple surface repair cannot solve the root cause, and blistering will recur later. Source treatment is required.
  • Q Can anti-static flooring meet standards with anti-static topcoat alone?

A No. To achieve stable anti-static performance, a complete system including primer, conductive intermediate coat and anti-static topcoat is required. Without the conductive layer, it is hard to meet resistance specifications.
  • Q How long after construction can the floor be put into use?

A Different rules apply for different scenarios. At normal temperature, pedestrian access is available after 48 hours, and full curing to reach design strength takes 7 days. Heavy forklift traffic is recommended after 7 days.
  • Q Can waterborne epoxy and solvent-free epoxy be overcoated interchangeably?

A Random mixing is not recommended. They differ in resin system and curing mechanism. Cross-system overcoating may lead to insufficient interlayer adhesion. Sample testing is mandatory before formal construction.
  • Q Is it feasible to renovate old floors by applying only one layer of topcoat?

A It depends. If the old floor suffers from peeling, hollowing or heavy oil contamination, recoating merely with topcoat will peel off soon. Thin-coat renovation is viable only when the substrate is stable, oil-free and fully ground.
  • Q Can floor coatings be applied under low temperature in winter?

A It depends on the material system. Ordinary epoxy cures slowly and tends to remain sticky below 5°C. Construction is allowed only when low-temperature special formula materials are adopted and environmental requirements are met.
  • Q Can polyurethane ultra-wear-resistant topcoat be painted directly on concrete?

A Not recommended. Concrete has abundant pores and moisture easily seeps out. Direct application tends to cause blistering and peeling. Sealing primer must be applied first.
  • Q Can floor primer be directly used as topcoat?

A No. Primers focus on penetration and sealing without abrasion and stain resistance. If exposed directly, they will easily chalk and wear out. Primers can only be used as underlayers.
  • Q Must coatings from the same series be matched together?

A Not necessarily. You can use epoxy self-leveling as the intermediate coat and polyurethane ultra-wear-resistant topcoat. It combines the high rigidity & load capacity of epoxy coatings with excellent abrasion resistance and UV resistance of polyurethane topcoats. However, adhesion tests shall be conducted in advance for cross-system overcoating to prevent interlayer delamination.
  • Q Must primer, intermediate coat and topcoat be applied as a complete set for floor coatings?

A Not necessarily. The intermediate coat mainly levels the substrate, thickens the coating system and improves compression & impact resistance. If the concrete surface is flat and bears low load, a two-coat system (primer + topcoat) is acceptable.
